What sets bauma CHINA apart from other machinery expos, how has it evolved?

Bauma CHINA 2026 opens in Shanghai this November, and for the first time it runs as “One Show, Two Venues”: the main fair takes place 24–27 November 2026 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), while a second venue, the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (SWEECC), opens a day earlier on 23–26 November. Organizers have expanded the show to 400,000 square meters with more than 4,000 exhibitors (bauma-china.com).

It is the benchmark trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines and construction vehicles in Asia, rooted in Shanghai since 2002. So what actually sets it apart from BICES, CONEXPO-CON/AGG or INTERMAT? And after so many editions, what has changed for the buyers who walk the aisles? Imachine will also join this bauma exhibition.

How bauma CHINA differs from other machinery exhibitions

Compared with BICES in Beijing, the difference starts with the audience. BICES is built around Chinese OEMs presenting technology to domestic contractors and local procurement teams, and overseas small and mid-size trade buyers make up a smaller share of its visitors. bauma CHINA sits inside the global bauma network, so it draws a visibly stronger flow of overseas buyers from Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and it has grown a fuller ecosystem around what those buyers actually need: parts suppliers, export agents and used-equipment dealers.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG in the United States is oriented to the North American market, with its centre of gravity in large mining and infrastructure equipment sold new. Its buyer structure, supporting supply chains and market cycle are far removed from the Asia-Pacific export track. A distributor in Nigeria or Indonesia does not build a sourcing trip around Las Vegas. Shanghai baoma is where the shipping lines, freight forwarders and inspection services sit closest to the factories.

INTERMAT in France reflects European priorities: low-carbon regulations and new-energy equipment for a market that is tightening emissions rules. bauma CHINA covers the full chain instead — new machines, components and second-hand units — which is a better match for emerging-market buyers who mix new purchases with used construction machinery in one sourcing trip.

In general, bauma CHINA is the only Asia-Pacific stop connected to the worldwide bauma exhibition network, and the density of overseas B2B trade buyers is its core advantage. The last edition in 2024 drew 281,488 trade visitors from 188 countries and regions, more than 20% of them from overseas, with Russia, India, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Brazil and Japan topping the list.

Key shifts of bauma CHINA across multiple past editions

In its early editions, the fair was mainly a launch stage: new machine reveals, technology displays and brand dealers. Export-service providers and used-equipment booths were rare, and visitors came mostly from the large-brand dealer networks.

In the middle period, two themes took over the halls: electrification and intelligent control. The components and parts section kept expanding edition after edition, and exhibitors noticed a clear change in the aisles — inquiries from Africa and the Middle East multiplied as export demand started to rise.

The recent editions show a more structural shift. The industry no longer comes only to look at new technology; buyers arrive with supply-chain questions — spare parts availability, second-hand machine trade, delivery and after-sales plans. bauma CHINA 2024 returned after a four-year break and set records across the board: 3,542 exhibitors from 32 countries and regions (up 24% from 2020) on 330,000 square meters.

The 2026 edition pushes further with the dual-venue format, more space for trade services, and a dedicated export business zone that gives foreign-trade service providers proper room to meet buyers.

What you can explore at Imachine’s bauma CHINA booth this year

Imachine will bring a custom capsule experience zone to the show: an immersive space where buyers can see Drillmaster Group machinery and spare parts presented the way it actually works on site, making it easier to judge machine condition and configuration before any commercial talk starts.

The booth also includes a dedicated negotiation area with custom reception furniture and the meeting room, so deep one-on-one discussions can happen away from the aisle noise. Updated company brochures and the latest product catalogs will be on hand, with refreshments and branded gifts for visiting clients. More than 120 global clients have already accepted invitations to visit and communicate at our booth, and the team will keep meeting slots open for new appointments during the show days.

Plan your visit to bauma CHINA

Overseas buyers get more out of the fair by preparing early. Register for a visitor ticket in advance, plan the itinerary around the two venues — SWEECC opens 23–26 November, SNIEC runs 24–27 November — and book meetings with the suppliers you shortlist before flying in, so the show days go to negotiating rather than searching. It helps to review the Imachine products and note the machines you may interested in person before the trip.

bauma CHINA is more than a stage for new technology. For overseas purchasers, it has become one of the most efficient windows for finding stable used-equipment suppliers, comparing parts sources and locking in delivery plans — and the 2026 dual-venue edition gives that work more room than ever.
